Nippon Express Holdings, Inc. (NX Group) has invested in Spiral Inc., a Japanese startup known for developing non-SLAM autonomous flight control systems for indoor drones. The investment was made through the NX Global Innovation Fund on August 23, aiming to enhance NX Group’s long-term vision of becoming a ‘logistics company with a strong global market presence.’ Spiral Inc., founded in 2016 with its headquarters in Tokyo, has developed MarkFlex® Air, an autonomous navigation system for drones in non-GPS environments. The system allows drones to navigate indoors using software-defined routes and QR codes on walls. NX Group’s collaboration with Spiral intends to support the startup’s global expansion, particularly in the European market, by leveraging the group’s logistics assets and newly acquired Vienna-based cargo-partner subsidiary. The collaboration aims to develop new logistics solutions and meet emerging needs in the European construction industry. The investment also aligns with NX Group’s commitment to addressing social issues and contributing to a sustainable society.
