Scandit, a leader in smart data capture, has acquired the shelf audit automation technology from MarketLab, a Polish firm specializing in image recognition and AI software for the retail sector. This acquisition includes the transfer of MarketLab’s expert team to Scandit, where they will work on expanding the new offering. MarketLab’s fixed camera solutions will complement Scandit’s existing ShelfView mobile capture approach, creating a hybrid data capture solution aimed at improving retail shelf intelligence. The retail sector suffers an annual loss of approximately $634 billion due to on-shelf availability problems, according to IHL Group. By integrating these technologies, Scandit aims to enhance workforce efficiency, automate time-consuming store operations, and provide actionable insights for retailers. The new solution is designed to offer real-time notifications to improve store performance and address issues such as planogram compliance and pricing errors. Samuel Mueller, CEO and co-founder of Scandit, emphasized that this acquisition marks a significant step in Scandit’s mission to broaden its smart data capture capabilities and enable retailers to maximize sales and operational efficiency.
