Verene Energia, a power transmission platform owned by the global investment group CDPQ, has agreed to purchase SPE 7 from Equatorial Energia S.A. The acquisition involves a 124-kilometre power transmission network in Brazil’s Par state. Valued up to CAD 210 million (BRL 841 million), this marks CDPQ’s third power transmission investment in Latin America in two years. SPE 7, built in 2020, is strategic due to its connectivity between Brazil’s northern and northeastern regions, facilitating the delivery of renewable electricity. Emmanuel Jaclot, CDPQ’s Executive Vice-President, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting renewable energy projects with this investment. The financial close is anticipated by December 2024, pending customary conditions and approvals. This deal is set to enhance Verene Energia’s role in operating CDPQ’s power transmission assets across Latin America.
