Family-run speech therapy startup Saltroad has raised £575k in pre-seed funding. The investment, led by Techstart Ventures with Ascension VC participating, aims to build a core team in Belfast to deliver speech and language therapy (SLT) services across the UK. Saltroad will also recruit more engineers to develop its platform, which connects parents with registered speech therapists. Founders Darren and Debi Lester believe that their digital marketplace will significantly reduce waiting times for therapy and eliminate administrative tasks for therapists, thereby increasing SLT capacity. The startup is an important intervention as two million UK children currently require SLT, with significant life implications if untreated. Debi Lester brings over 12 years of SLT experience, and Darren previously sold his online marketplace business, SpecifiedBy.com.
