Liverpool-based EnviroTech startup Heatio has secured a £2 million investment to further its mission of making clean energy more accessible and affordable. Founded in 2022 by Simon Roberts and Thomas Farquhar, Heatio is known for its smart home energy platform, Heatio Flexx, which optimizes renewable technologies like solar panels, heat pumps, EV chargers, and batteries using AI and machine learning. The investment round was led by Ascension and included participants like Conduit Connect, The Syndicate Room, Baltic Ventures, LYVA Labs, and DeepTech investor Neil Norman. This funding will be used to expand Heatio’s team, launch a new version of the Heatio Flexx app, and scale onboarding for new customers. Additionally, Heatio will support two contracts within the UK government’s Net Zero Portfolio, enabling 350 homes in the North West to adopt renewable technologies via a subscription service called Energy as a Service (EaaS). The company is also partnering with Perenna Bank and Energy Systems Catapult to offer green mortgages. Ascension’s managing partner, Jean de Fougerolles, will join Heatio’s board.
