ULEMCo, a company based in Liverpool, has raised over £5 million in a new funding round led by Mercia Ventures and supported by existing investors such as Equity Gap, the North West Fund, and Scottish Enterprise. This funding will enable ULEMCo to expand its team and develop new hydrogen dual fuel, fuel cell, and zero-carbon emission technologies. The company’s innovations, particularly the H2CED dual fuel solution, allow heavy-duty vehicles to run on hydrogen while retaining the capacity to use diesel when necessary, thereby reducing emissions without requiring fleet replacements. The company plans to create around 100 new jobs in the UK over the next three to five years and is celebrating its 10th anniversary. ULEMCo’s technology has already seen substantial uptake in Scotland, with Aberdeen City Council converting 55 vehicles to hydrogen.
