Serica Energy announced the appointment of Chris Cox as its new CEO, as confirmed by the AIM-traded firm. David Latin, who served as interim CEO, will conclude his temporary role following this appointment. Cox, whose career spans over four decades in the oil and gas sector, brings vast experience from his past leadership roles, including CEO positions at Spirit Energy, Capricorn Energy, and chairman at Kellas Midstream. His role also extended to non-executive director positions within the industry. Chris Cox’s selection was the result of a rigorous recruitment process, hailed by chairman and interim CEO David Latin for his technical and commercial expertise, as well as a proven ability to lead sizeable upstream entities across diverse geographies such as the UK and Norway. This aligns well with Serica’s current operational activities, drilling programs, and strategic ambitions to expand through mergers and acquisitions. Chris Cox holds a Bachelor of Science in petroleum engineering from Imperial College London. He expressed his dedication to maintaining Serica’s high standards of operational performance and realizing growth within the company’s portfolio, as well as adding shareholder value through strategic M&As. Following the news of Cox’s appointment, Serica Energy’s shares saw a slight increase.
