Grand Rapids-based Foresight Management, an energy and emissions consulting firm, has merged with Indiana-based Cornerstone Environmental, Health and Safety Inc., promising to double its size and significantly expand its service offerings. Foresight, known for aiding companies in reaching emission reduction and clean energy goals, will integrate with Cornerstone, which specializes in environmental health and safety compliance. The merger is expected to combine the strengths of both firms, which have similar employee counts, and to enhance their offerings with proprietary software products. Under the terms of the deal, announced to clients on April 29, Cornerstone President Mark Miller will join Foresight’s executive leadership team, and Cornerstone will continue operations in Zionsville under its current branding. Foresight President Brian Pageau anticipates the merger to fuel a 30% year-over-year growth in combined revenues in the coming years, building on Foresight’s 50% annual organic growth. The company, started in 2007, has transitioned from a boutique energy efficiency contractor to a comprehensive energy management and software provider. Foresight asserts its growth strategy in the context of increasing corporate emphasis on greenhouse gas emission control and amidst regulatory developments such as the SEC’s proposed climate disclosure rules mandating reporting of climate-related risks and greenhouse gas emissions for publicly traded companies, although these rules face legal challenges.
